EDUCATION
1976 – 78: Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. He majored in Applied Percussion.
1982 – 86: earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theology with minors in Biblical Languages and History from Oakwood College in Huntsville, AL. He served as a Greek tutor from 1984 – 86.
1988 – 90: earned a Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI. He served as a Greek tutor from 1988 – 89.
1992 – 93: studied Liberation Theology at New York Theological Seminary in New York, NY.
1993 – 95: earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH, as a Cosby/Wheeler Scholar, specializing in the African American Church of the Twenty-first Century.
2003-05; earned a Master of Arts in Organizational Psychology at Alliant International University in San Francisco, CA. He is currently a fourth year Ph.D. candidate in Organizational Psychology at Alliant International University in San Francisco, CA. His doctoral thesis is entitled: A Phenomenological Study of Spiritual Intelligence in Organizational leaders.
2006 - Completed lisensure as a Group Home Administrator in the state of California.

He is an Ordained Minister (1992) – Northeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, NY. New York – 1986-1995 (Northeastern Conference) Pittsburg, CA – 1995-1997 (Northern California Conference) .

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
He has conducted revivals and evangelism throughout the West Indies, Europe, and the United States, and across denominational lines. More recently his activities have included organizational consulting with churches in the form of team building, program design, strategic planning, and leadership. He has published six articles in the Message Magazine (An international magazine geared toward African Americans), and has also served as a ghost writer for a number of prominent ministers whose articles featured in Message and Ministry magazines respectively. He served as editor for The Gift of the Gospel by renowned biblical scholar, Dr. A. Ganoune Diop, and The Black Heritage Bible Studies by Pastor Stephen Williams.

INTERESTS
His interests include composing, arranging, and drumming, playing music, video editing and production, writing and research, reading, and health and fitness. Since 1976, he has toured, recorded, performed, and appeared as a drummer with numerous musical artists including: The Kuumba Singers of Harvard and Radcliff, A Special Blend, Solar, Wintley Phipps, Shelton Kilby, Clifton Davis, Mervyn Warren, Tramaine Hawkins, Richard Smallwood, and Kevin Eubanks, and many others. He has performed at the New Orleans Jazz festival, the Charles River Jazz Festival, and with the Atlanta Symphony, and has appeared on the Bobby Jones Gospel Hour. He is the featured drummer on the following CDs, records, and Tapes: 1982 – Solar; 1982-86 – Oakwood College-Precious Memories (Brian Jones; Anthony Whigham, A Special Blend, Greg Forbes); 1994 – A Special Blend; 2003 – AZANYAH; 2004 – On My Mission; and 2005 – The Morning Sky Tsunami Benefit Project. He is currently featured on a 2006 re-release of the Solar project in Japan. He occasionally teaches drum set, and in 2001 served as a judge for up and coming young talent at the East Bay Drum-off, an amateur drum competition sponsored by Guitar Center and Pearl Drums.

FAMILY
He is a single father of two teen children; a daughter named Yvaana and a son named Jawara.
